PFSENSE is a free and open-source from FreeBSD which function is to act as firewall or router and is managed via web interface. PFSense is a trusted open source firewall which is used widely by some/most of the network administrators which prefers to use an open-source rather than buying appliance.

Web filtering - by using squid guard, where you can manage restricting of specific websites;

Load-balancing - in which you can combine, extend or even prioritize multiple ISP’s in one network.

Traffic Management – with this, you are able to control downloads and uploads or even bandwidth throttling.

Caching – you can easily access the visited websites that is logged in the firewall.

Traffics – you can monitor the network traffic, internet consumption, user accessed websites or downloads, and even viewing them graphically.

Port Forwarding – able to port forward which router also does.

DHCP Server – can be configured to serve as DHCP Server over the network.

Those are just some of the features PFSense can do, but lots of features will still be discussed or shared as I will be posting later the interfaces of the firewall. As of now, let us just know why I am choosing this firewall among others.
Handling a big institution is not easy job for me, for I am still developing everything what I have learned day-by-day. So as we continue learning things working as a system and network engineer we will just know first every basic thing about this firewall.
