LET'S LEARN SOME NIGERIAN SLANG

Hello hivers, its a beautiful Saturday morning. The weekend is here and I love Saturdays because its a day to rest from all the week's hassles. Just because everyone may be at home relaxing today, I decided to write this post so we can all learn.

I am a Nigerian and in my country, we have lots of slang which we use to communicate. So if you have a friend who is a Nigerian, then you need to learn these slang for an exciting conversation. Don't forget to thank me too. I also have friends from all over the world who I engage with on daily basis. It is pertinent to introduce some slang Languages have a way of uniting us. That's my intention here. I know that i am an amazing teacher too. My friends say i love to praise myself a lot. Well, yes. There is a popular African proverb which says that when the lizard falls from up, he looks left and right and when he sees that nobody applauds him, he nods his head to applaud himself. So please, allow me to applaud myself. I am always doing good. Wait a minute, in fact i am doing great.

Anyway, let's get started with the slang. I will just drop about twenty of the slang.

1. Amebo: means gossip. ( someone will say why did she start with this one. Oops I am sorry.. I love gist. Just maybe that's why I am starting with this.

2. Waka waka: means someone that doesn't stay in a place. Likes to move around.

3. Abobi: could mean friend, guy. This lexicon is used for a man. Pronounced as ah-bor-be

4. Maler: mother,mum,mummy

5. Paler: father,dad,daddy

6. Wida: means how far, what is going on, watsup

7. Smack/ chaw/ download: means to eat.

8. Barney: means a girl

9. Kpai: to die

10. Gragra: means to hurry.

11. Ashawo: a prostitute

12. Japa : To leave, run

13. Scatter my Dada : impress

14. Straf/ gbench : to have sex

15. Molar/ bar: means money

16. To rock : means to dance

17 Gbedu : means song

1. See levels: means upgrade

2. To toast: means to cook

3. To jonz : To be foolish

4. Jara: extra

I will stop here for today, from time to time, I will be posting more of our Nigerian slang for everyone to learn. I said i was going to teach twenty slang but i added jara. Lol. I have used a slang here. So if you have a Nigerian friend, you can use some of these slang to communicate. Even if you don't have a Nigerian friend, you can just use these slang to communicate amongst yourself. I have explained some of the basic words which will aid in an exciting conversation.
