Is life a responsibility or a pleasure?

I saw a post sometimes back about a very good footballer who said he actually didn't enjoy playing football and that all it was to him was a business and a job.

A lot of people thought that it was weird for someone to do something they didn't like and I find it very funny.

A lot of people are unhappy with the things they have to do for money, but they still do it anyway because responsibility does not recognize passion, likeness or love.

Life requires a lot of responsibility and a lot of the decisions we make in life shows how responsible we choose to be. We don't have to like life to be responsible, and to be responsible is mostly likely not something we always like to do.

To be responsible means to make the tough choices, it means to do what takes gut to do, to bury our innermost desires and choose that which is right and tenable.

This is exactly why people can work and not love their jobs, the paycheck is all the fulfilment they need, their ability to solve problems, the joy the derive from being able to pay their way out of life is always the biggest motivation to get their hands dirty and muddle in the things they never wanted.

This isn't me saying people cannot love what they do, or that there aren't people who don't love the thing they do.

Infact the best profession in life or hustle is that type where you actually love what you do and are paid very handsomely for it, there's no greater fulfillment than this. Infact being a master, a pro at what you do, and infact having a level of passion for what you do makes you one of the best.

This is why when it comes to careers like football, the best in the game are those with love for the game. Those who just wants to do the game before the money.

Although money can also be a passion that drives the love for the game, but it's better for money to drive the passion, than for people to have no drive at all because they already made enough money.

Inasmuch as we can be passionate or hungry for success, some people become complacent, lose their drive when they already feel that they've made enough money.

They got diminishing returns so fast that you won't even remember that there was a time they were very passionate about the business, the game and all that.

However the person I talked about at the beginning of the post is a rare breed: they don't like or rate the game, for them it's a business, and they just want to keep putting in their best, training to make sure that they make enough money to retire happily.

Passion/business

For example, I'm a football fan, I'd probably have loved to be a player, even though I didn't have the requirements to become one, I know that it would be an honor to be able to step out on a good day, impress my employers, the customers (the fans) and raise my stock and quality myself for a raise.

I can love the game, because the money is good, but this mostly appeals to business and not a lot of other jobs. I worked as a school teacher for over 7 years, and I loved the job because I got the meet people and I used it as a coping mechanism for the trauma I was already facing, but the money was very poor.

This is the business, responsibility and the need to sort something is why we mostly do what we do, it's what the average person mostly do. People wake up, do the business their supposed to do and then make out tome to go to the park, unwind and do other things, why?

Because the business is business and not for relaxing and not for any other things.

Life is bizarre and strange, and in that state of incomprehensibility, people build patterns of sustenance and that's why we have the concept of responsibility: doing what matters most, when we should do it and why we need to properly do it.

We don't need to love the concept of responsibility to actually be responsible people, although people run away from it because it's not always pleasant. It's not always comfortable to be the "bigger person", the one who have to bear the burden with two-sided consequences, it's a tough world, but it's what it is.

The world is a tough place but we live it nonetheless, sometimes we don't find pleasure but we still do the tough things.
