The world meteorological organization announced two new records for the duration and length of natural lightning strikes in the Earth's atmosphere.

The lightning with a record duration fell in Argentina on March 4, 2019 and lasted no less than 16.73 seconds, being the first time that one of these phenomena with such exorbitant duration has been recorded, in fact the previous record was held by a lightning that struck France on August 30, 2012, lasted 7.74 seconds, less than half of the duration of the Argentine lightning.

And the record for the longest range of a single lightning bolt, occurred on October 31, 2018, very close to the other record in fact, in southern Brazil and had a range of no less than 709 kilometers, the previous record recorded had a range At 312 kilometers, it is incredible records that should not be taken as indicators of global warming, but as proof of how much satellite technology is improving and how powerful nature can be.
