Experiencing other professions

Due to the serious crisis that Venezuela is going through, because of, if it is necessary to say, of the largest organized gang in the world - the communists -, the common citizen must adapt to the hyperinflation that has not stopped in the last 10 years, any activity that one decides to carry out, that even some renovation or construction project in his home, implies an enormous expense in his pocket, which is impossible to cover under these circumstances.

That is why I have decided to learn blacksmithing, an ancestral profession and little valued in my country; the house that I am building requires a certain number of iron bars for your safety, including window bars, stalls and other openings that I wish to cover so that “friends” of the alien desist in their goal of stealing.

The first thing I'm interested in covering are the windows, among them there are round windows that I want to cover first, this publication focuses on them; I managed to design the model I want in CAD, I show you above.

Initially I understand that I require some key tools in this profession, fortunately I have the majority, but there are some very specific ones that I must buy or build, some will appear when I discover that I need them: as it is obvious first I require a platen bender, it is designed first to facilitate the making of the window, but she will speak in another post, the tools that are required are the following.
- Welder, electrodes and welding mask.
- safety implements, gloves, lenses and others that you deserve.
- Hammer, punch, press, pliers.
- Drill, emery and polisher.

First let me clarify that I am not a professional in welding, you have to have some experience in it, I have been acquiring it by self-taught; To begin with, it is necessary to determine the measures of all the circular pieces that must be built, then proceed to make them in the bender, it is necessary to take into account certain things, which I will name next.

- When bending the piece it is stretched, so you have to cut 1 to 2 cm less than what is required.

- It is necessary to bevel the tips for when it was welded, the contributing material will penetrate the piece and not be badly welded. See Figure.

- Once the piece is folded and welded, it must be reviewed by the bender so that it acquires the curvature in the welded part.

Once each piece is finished, I begin to assemble, once assembled I start welding them, fixing the pieces well so that they do not run.

Once everything is welded, it begins to grind with a polisher, this gives the final finish as shown.

The piece that will help to sign the fence on the wall where he will go and weld himself to fence is cut. As shown.

And here is the final work, once mounted on the site, it is painted with an anticorrosive background so that it does not corrode. And then it is painted the color you want later.
