Just this afternoon I was caught in a deep thought after struggling to keep up with my Alx software engineering classes due to some congestion in plans that came up from nowhere all of a sudden, and I kept thinking about the way I could concentrate for a year without distractions since the scholarship program would last only a year, after which you have to pay some money 🤑.

After so much deep thought, I remember some advice from a close friend about growth, and he kept on hammering on the importance of documenting your journey; some of the things that we know about lots of great people didn't actually come from them saying them but from things they documented before they left this world, and today what they've written down still serves as a beneficial tool to a lot of people who want to pick up life lessons from them.

I am going to take a similar approach; the only difference is that I would be documenting my journey both online and offline so that I can keep up with my growth as time goes by.

The tools that I would be using for this journey have already been provided in the ALX software engineering intranet sandbox, where you can locate different tools for every part of the journey.

For the first journey I will be using the sandbox that contains different editors like the vi or vim editor and the emacs editor; these editors will be very crucial during the first two months of the journey and probably to the end of the journey.

I am starting my journey on my phone till I can get a laptop; it will be difficult to make use of the web sandbox on my phone to carry out functions on the vi or vim editor, so to make things easier, I am going to make use of an app called Termux Terminal; currently, the app is not on the Play Store. I was only able to get my hands on the APK using the Fdroid app, which contains apps that you wouldn't find on the Play Store.

It's not safe, so it is better to get a laptop if you can afford one; it makes your learning smooth since you wouldn't be working using a phone when you finally graduate and get a job.

This is what the app will look like once it's installed, after which there are some packages to install before you can now start using your workspace to learn. It's actually a gradual process, but it still has to be steady just to make sure you don't miss the energy along the way. That's one major cause of setback that I had experienced since I decided to start this journey.

Tomorrow I will focus more on setting up our workspace, what it looks like, and the tools that we will need during the first few months.

I am hoping that while I drop in on my learning journey on a regular basis, it will help inspire me and someone out there who is finding it difficult to get up and push on to the very end, the hive will definitely help to push me both mentally and physically with words and encouragements that will help my journey😍.
