Why adding a 5% fee for HBD->HIVE conversions is a bad idea
Hope this idea of adding a 5% fee to HBD->HIVE conversions is a nonstarter
There's been talk recently of adding a 5% fee to HBD->HIVE conversions which to me is baffling. It would have a similar effect to as if the peg of HBD were set to 95 cents per dollar. The current high interest rate of 20% would camouflage this effect but that is exactly what it would be.
For example, let's imagine that the interest rate of HBD for whatever reason was reduced to 1% ROI. Who in their right mind would buy HBD at $1 knowing that there is a 5% fee to get $1 worth of Hive for every HBD? No one. That's who.
