I Have Never Been This Brave

Life is not easy and like Les Brown would say, whoever says life is going to be easy lied. With that in mind I have never look at life and expect things to be easy though I wish things are easy.

Today I made a decision, a decision I am always scared of, a decision which I have no answer to its outcome, a decision to stop settling for less, it wasn't easier trust me but I had to man up and go through with my decision.

I am a RF Technician by profession in other words Telecommunication Technician. My job simply is to install antennas systems to boost network coverage.

The last three years of my career took a dip as result of the company I previously worked for closed down. The boss (Sheldon) was the best boss I ever met and I still think I might not meet such boss again in life.

With closed down company I joined the company which I'm currently with until today. The current company which is bigger couldn't even match my salary, so it was a R6000 ($402) drop in salary.
With Covid hitting us last year I was retrenched and being used as a contract worker and paid $26 per day from earning $1006 per month, three years ago. I hung on to the $26 per day like my life depended on it.

I knew I was being exploited but I was waiting for the economy to open up Covid-wise and yes projects started pouring in, I spoke to the boss to review what am being paid but all I got was promises.

A plus minus $20k project came in an plans are on to commence this week and with me leading the project my offer was $805. On confronting the boss about the offer I was told "I will get someone else to do the job" for moments I thought how do I survive, pay rent but the other part of me had enough of being fucked, enough of settling for my worth.

I met with some guys in the industry today and we looking at partnering up, hopefully that materialize soon.

Taking a decision and having no idea of the outcome is something I have never done especially in this day of high unemployment but I was really tired of settling for less. Hopefully some better offer comes my way soon.
