Mujair fish is a kind of freshwater fish commonly consumed. The natural spread of this fish is the waters of Africa and in Indonesia was first discovered by Mr. Mujair at the mouth of the Serang River south coast of Blitar, East Java in 1939. Although still a mystery, how the fish can get to the remote estuary in southern Blitar, is called 'mujair' to commemorate the inventor.

Its scientific name is Oreochromis mossambicus, and in English known as Mozambique tilapia, or sometimes incorrectly called "Java tilapia".
