Hitting a Wall or Crushing It

Growing up in the streets of Brooklyn, New York and listening to rap music before it was even on mainstream radio or radio at all; much less television - I saw an evolution, like no other in my lifetime.

Yes, of course the introduction to the internet; where we actually had the opportunity to be on it and to see the explosion of mobile phones, social media and the rest of the technology that has changed all our lives - has been amazing to live through.

Now as we see the explosion of blockchains, crypto, DeFi, NFT's and everything that will come with that world is inevitably and metamorphically taking us to new heights that we could never imagine or if you imagined it - ever believed, it could be possible or at least as fast as it's happening.

Now going back to when the rap metamorphosis into Hip Hop and way beyond mainstream and became a fabric of our society:

Many looked it as a fad, it would never last, that it was trash and anything negative they could have said about it - was said.

Now it's a billion if not a trillion dollar industry. I may be exaggerating, but I am confident that it's straddling between the two.

The whole point to all of this?

The belief by many and the hard work, sweat and tears folks put in to make other's believe that rap music was here to stay and losing battle after battle; has produced one of the most amazing genres ever - if not the best.

I'm biased, because I fell in love with it as a kid and listening to guys get on the microphone while a dj was spinning on the turntables; while we soaked in the phenomenal rise of rap and into the Hip Hop world it created is proof that once inevitability has a hold - it's no use fighting it, but embracing it.

At 55 years old, being ALIVE for this transformative platform that we are experiencing and just being a tiny part of this cryptocurrency universe, goes beyond saying - how blessed we are to watch this unfold and have the opportunity to be involved in one way or another.

I'm sure for many of us, we had been coming up against a plethora of challenges and having a chance to improve from these opportunities is a blessing.

I myself, in trying to find a way to become my own boss and not have to be stymied by the status quo has been an uphill battle.

I now look at things much differently from my mistakes, other's mistakes and just age; when you get older and yes, you do get wiser or at least have a more pragmatic and realistic view of life.

Today, is one of those days that I find reflective; because not only is it a Wednesday - it's the first day of a brand new September month.

I like to assess my week on Wednesdays and as I set smaller goals towards the ultimate goals I have set in my sights; it's an important day to know if my week is on a positive trend or regressing. It gives me a couple of days to build on what is working and make minor changes to what is not.

I say minor changes, because you can't just give up and must give everything 100% before cutting your losses.

That is a usual Wednesday, but now I'm on the first day of a new month and I expand that evaluation on where am I at as a whole.

Has my approach become stagnated, did I experience something last month that can catapult me to the next level, am I working hard enough to make a dent towards my goals?

For one reason or the other, I felt like I was hitting the wall. There were days last month that I may have felt a bit defeated, but my wins (my personal assessment of what I consider wins) outweighed the losses.

So yes, the losses may have mounted a bit; but at no point did I think of quitting. My mentality is to crush it. Every day if I wake up, that is a fucking WIN! So how do I celebrate that WIN? By continuing to crush my way towards success. Alive and Thriving 🙏
