Afri-tunes Week #50 || I know who I am by Sinach || Covered @jesus-son
Hello Hive Afri-tunes community. My name is @jesus-son. This is afri-tunes week #50 and I am glad to have been consistent with making entries for the weekly challenge.
A lot of things are going on in our world at the moment. For some countries it is bad governance bringing about chaos and anarchy in the land. For some others it's moral decadence, natural disasters, economic crises, religious problems and so many issues that threaten man's existence.
For me personally, so many things have happened that question my identity as a human person and more particularly, my identity as a Christian. I lay down last night thinking through these many stuffs and I was almost giving up but for God’s intervention.
You may be curious to know how God intervened and I will tell you, so don't rush at all, lolz. Many a time when I am in such perturbed situation, music is always my comforting antidote. So I made move to sing and the Lord put a song in my mouth that so fit in to alleviate the heavy load I was carrying in my mind. It is the song by Sinach titled: I know who I am.
Men! For the first time after several hearing of this song, I understood its lyrics adequately. It is a prophetic song. It tells me that I am a chosen generation and as such called forth to show God's excellence. Wao! Who am I to show God's excellence? But if God has given me that opportunity, then I am glad to be and as such use it well.
The song is a song of self affirmation. It calls us to recognise once more who we are as God's people. We are holy not by our might but by God's grace, we are beautiful, rich and righteous and as such heirs to God’s kingdom. We are princes and princesses by the virtue of our being sons and daughters of the almighty King of the universe.
So you see I didn't need all the stress of thinking about my value as a person because God already defined it for me. But then I have to conform to God’s ways and keep that identity intact.
Dear friends I bring you this good news today that we are all a chosen generation and as such never to feel inferior or incapable of excellence. It is my prayer that we may constantly affirm our personalities as valuable sons and daughters and live fine.
I am doing this cover with my piano. I tried to make it a duet. I hope you enjoy with me as I enjoyed while playing and singing. God bless you for always showing up.
