Another weekend with a geek event in the city of Barquisimeto. This time it's the turn of the Expo Comic Bazaar. The main Expo Comic event was held in April, but there was a problem with the air conditioning in the shopping center, so the event organizers decided to compensate all the exhibitors and the public with this bazaar, which took place over the weekend.
Admission was completely free, and exhibitors did not have to pay anything extra either. The same exhibitors from the April event were there, although it was also open to other exhibitors who wanted to participate.
Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th were the two days of the event. Saturday was scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. That day, the city woke up to heavy rain, but by noon the weather had improved. At that point, I headed to the Arena Plaza shopping center.
Otro fin de semana con un evento geek en la ciudad de Barquisimeto. Esta vez le toca el turno a la Expo Comic Bazaar. El evento principal Expo Comic se celebró en abril, pero hubo un problema con el aire acondicionado del centro comercial, por lo que los organizadores del evento decidieron compensar a todos los expositores y al público con este bazar, que tuvo lugar durante el fin de semana.
La entrada era totalmente gratuita y los expositores tampoco tenían que pagar nada extra. Estaban los mismos expositores del evento de abril, aunque también estaba abierto a otros expositores que quisieran participar.
El sábado 12 y el domingo 13 fueron los dos días del evento. El sábado estaba previsto que comenzara a las 10 de la mañana y terminara a las 8 de la noche. Ese día, la ciudad amaneció con fuertes lluvias, pero al mediodía el tiempo había mejorado. En ese momento, me dirigí al centro comercial Arena Plaza.
The event took place inside the shopping mall, in the main area. All the stalls were neatly arranged there. Of course, there were stalls with collectible figures and posters. I saw quite a few sales, especially on the cheaper figures, which cost between $4 and $5. Most of the posters cost $1. There were also reasonably priced stickers, bracelets, necklaces, and even wallets with Batman, Deadpool, etc. motifs. I asked the price, but I forgot how much they cost.
The Patitas de Amor Foundation had its own space, with different pets for anyone who wanted to adopt one. Similarly, the Pequeño Cottolengo Foundation, dedicated to helping people with special needs, sold items made by the young people of the foundation and also promoted an activity they will be holding early next month. A musical event to raise funds for the foundation.
There were stalls selling ramen, juices, mangoes, cakes, cookies, and a variety of food so that the public could spend a lot of time there. There were also food outlets in the shopping center for those who wanted to eat pizza or drink coffee. And if you felt like buying food, there was the Río supermarket in the same place.
El evento tuvo lugar dentro del centro comercial, en la zona principal. Todos los puestos estaban perfectamente ordenados allí. Por supuesto, había puestos con figuras coleccionables y pósters. Vi bastantes rebajas, especialmente de las figuras más baratas, que costaban entre 4 y 5 dólares. La mayoría de los pósters costaban 1 dólar. También había pegatinas a precios razonables, pulseras, collares e incluso carteras con motivos de Batman, Deadpool, etc. Pregunté el precio, pero olvidé cuánto costaban.
La Fundación Patitas de Amor tenía su propio espacio, con diferentes mascotas para cualquiera que quisiera adoptar una. Del mismo modo, la Fundación Pequeño Cottolengo, dedicada a ayudar a personas con necesidades especiales, vendía artículos hechos por los jóvenes de la fundación y también promocionaba una actividad que realizarán a principios del próximo mes. Un evento musical para recaudar fondos para la fundación.
Había puestos de ramen, zumos, mangos, pasteles, galletas y comida variada para que el público pudiera pasar mucho tiempo allí. También había locales de comida en el centro comercial para quienes quisieran comer pizza o tomar café. Y si te apetecía comprar comida, estaba el supermercado Río en el mismo lugar.
Cosplayers also attended. There weren't many, perhaps because there were no organized activities. Although on the second day there was a small cosplay parade for those who wanted to participate. The important thing was that the event was free and anyone who wanted to attend in costume could do so.
Characters from anime, comics, and TV series. There was a wide variety of cosplayers who took photos with the audience. I took a lot of photos and videos. Individual photos. Group photos.
También asistieron cosplayers. No fueron muchos, quizá porque no había actividades organizadas. Aunque el segundo día hubo un pequeño desfile de cosplay para quienes quisieran participar. Lo importante era que el evento era gratuito y cualquiera que quisiera asistir disfrazado podía hacerlo.
Personajes de anime, cómics y series de televisión. Hubo una gran variedad de cosplayers que se hicieron fotos con el público. Yo hice un buen número de fotos y vídeos. Fotos individuales. Fotos de grupo.
Two days of fun for the whole family. The organizers are already planning Expo Comic 2026 and hope to bring some big surprises for the public. They are also organizing DX Off Road, which will take place next month.
