Ere ibeji (known as the twins)
HI GUYS, It’s me again
Here’s a rough sketch for my next project of “Ere ibeji, known as the twins In English”.
These twin sculpture possesses alot of significance and meaning with spiritual energy. They serve as vessels for the spirit of a deceased twin, allowing the family to continue caring for them.
Mothers ritually feed, wash, and adorn these figures with beads, paint, and shells, creating their worn patina.Twins (Ibeji) are highly regarded in Yoruba culture, believed to bring wealth but also potential misfortune if not honored, connecting them to the deity.
What do you think?
Enjoy 💫
CREATIVE PROCESS:
Created with charcoal pencil on paper. Starting with my carefully sketched, to adding more details till the finished piece. This is just a rough sketch so I probably focused on what’s important.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
