These photos were taken while on holiday in Victoria, Australia. This is the Port Welshpool Jetty, the 3rd longest wooden jetty still standing in Australia, located in the Gippsland village of Port Welshpool. Port Welshpool is a small town with a heavy focus around fishing.

The town built the long jetty (which is just under 5km's long) for the loading and unloading of fish, cattle and timber in 1905 and was operated as a horse drawn tramway, connecting Welshpool station to Port Welshpool. The line was closed in 1941. The jetty was reconstructed prior to World War II to facilitate the berthing of naval vessels and was reverted back to commercial uses after the war but a fire in 2003 resulted in its closure.

It is currently under reconstruction. It's a fabulous structure and I hope in it's reconstruction it continues to hold a lot of its old character and charm. My entry photo was taken from under the jetty, I loved the colours and its ruggered structure but I couldn't help share a couple a photos of the beautiful surroundings from above also.
