Yes, some songs touch the heart. You know, I've carried a feeling of melancholy with me since I was a child. I don't know why. I suppose it's part of my nature. Some of my sisters even asked my wife what she saw in me, if I was boring because I liked romantic and nostalgic music, almost heartbreaking.
Perhaps she had a point…
The melodies you shared undoubtedly touch on themes that can bring tears to even the toughest person. Why? Simple… They touch our vulnerability and reflect the fears we wish to avoid, but know we can't escape; it's only a matter of time.
In Latin America, we also have songs that travel the same paths. I remember "El Triste" by Roberto Cantoral, masterfully performed by a young José José, then 20 years old, in 1970. The lyrics seem to center on a lost love, and yes, that's exactly what it was: the death of the composer's mother.
That same year, an Argentinian singer, Piero, paid tribute to fathers with the song "Mi querido viejo" (My Dear Old Man).
And how could we forget "Amor eterno" (Eternal Love) by the Divo of Juárez, Juan Gabriel? Pure brotherly sentiment.
Now, I also remember "Perdóname" (Forgive Me) by Camilo Sesto. A song that goes beyond betrayal…
Wow, most of the songs I've left out have been with me since my teenage years!
Of course, I also have other deeply ingrained songs that, although joyful, still bring a tear to my eye when I remember happy, unrepeatable times with those who are no longer with us. I'm sure you understand.
Greetings.
