Chasing Rainbows at Sunset on Da Nang's Picturesque Beaches

Hello Friends,

One consistent perk living oceanside in Da Nang, Vietnam is the vivid sunsets that often ignite the sky and sea in brilliant hues. When heavy clouds roll in, another spectacle may arise - rainbows illuminating the atmosphere as the sun dips behind the misty Sun tra peninsula offshore. Capturing these scenes recently, I felt that familiar childhood awe stir, however science-minded I think myself. Rainbows retain a certain magic.

Its saturated bands of ruby, tangerine and emerald undulated gently, as if not wholly of this world. No matter how many optical physics lessons explain diffraction and light refraction through droplets, seeing rainbows ignite instills wonder. They often disappear quicker than cameras can capture them, ephemeral visions.

Examining photos later of Da Nang’s exceptional rainbow panoramas, I mused on alternate explanations. Might that colorful bridge signal rainbow-warrior Heimdall peering down from Asgard? Some mythologies describe rainbows as passageways for gods or spirits. Or perhaps astro-rainbows are just atmosphere-dwellers watching strangely bipedal races scamper about the planet, unaware of their observers!

Either way, rain or shine, I will keep chasing Da Nang’s vivid twilight rainbows and sunsets with childlike fascination, These elements of awe that too often fade with cynical adulthood.

There are always new discoveries under the endless sky when we permit a little whimsy about familiar things.
