Simple, Old Time Treat
When I was growing up, my Mom was (and still is) a great cook and baker, so we definitely knew good food.
Once in a while in winter, we'd have a quick treat instead of a baked dessert or pre-made bought sweets.
One of those things was a Marshmallow Graham.
I do realize that many folks know this as two of the three ingredients in S'mores, but we never had them with chocolate bars and back then, I never heard of S'mores.
Plain and simple and sweetly tasty.
The way my Mom did it was break the Graham in half, sit a marshmallow on it and put it under the oven broiler for a few minutes. Of course you leave the oven door cracked open a smidge so you can watch for when they get toasty brown on the top.
As soon as they come out of the oven, the other half of the Graham was smished on top causing the soft mallow to squish out the sides. 😋
I didn't quite get my tops on fast enough because.... I had to take a photo...LOL... had too! What is funny to me is that these are JUMBO marshmallows that I bought accidentally in my grocery order. I thought I deleted them when I saw they weren't the normal ones and chose the other, but I either didn't do it right or the program glitched. After the fact, it's kind of hard to tell.
Anyway, I originally bought these two items to take to my Mom's last Sunday in case we wanted a treat after whatever lunch we had. Turns out, she had been invited to another birthday part for my sister. My siblings and Mom had celebrated the weekend before, but one of her sons hosted another party for her this past weekend.
Tonight I had finished my supper and as I walked my few dishes back into the kitchen, I thought "I need a piece of pie"..... but there was none here. I entertained the thought of making some Rice Krispie Treats instead and then I realized I had the Grahams here. That would be faster if I just had a Marshmallow Graham and so I set about making it happen.
They were pretty enjoyable with the warm mallow centers. mmmMMMMMmmmmmmm Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had one, it's been years and years.
They tried to get away from me, but I was just too fast for them. ha ha
Yum!
Just thought I share the moment.
Hope you are doing well here, half way through this week.
Love ya!
