It's time for another #threetunetuesday. Thanks as always to @ablaze for making this wonderful community exploration happen.
In my most recent ThreeTuneTuesday post, I decided this week would be about taking one last look back at 2023 and then next week will be about setting some "manifesting" songs for 2024. So, let's look back at the year that was.
Apple Music & Spotify
One of the biggest changes in my life in 2023 was that I went entirely Apple and iOS. After having been a Windows and Android Gal for years, this was a massive change. This also meant I was using Apple Music a bit more for playlists, although my nephew works for Spotify and I love that tool as well. By far, my most played (at least by my feeling of things) playlist is my "Do The Work" playlist (Spotify) which I lazily play on Shuffle so I don't have to reorder the songs in it. This playlist kept me company many days in 2023 and I'm sure will continue to do so in 2024.
9 to 5
This is an oldie but always a goodie. Dolly Parton is one of those people who just continues to get better and better with age. I like this song for my 2023 for the irony in it. I call my life now "semi-retired" as I only work part time days and take as much vacation as I want. I have thought for a long time in this lifestyle that I'll find a rhythm but it's, at best, an awkward, syncopation that stops and starts and twists and turns. But, what I've learned, is I love this life so much.
I'll Be There For You
My best friend and I are living out our own Friends existence after buying a home and moving back in together after a couple of decades of living apart. I couldn't be more excited and I don't know if I've been there for her but she has certainly lived out being there for me as we've dealt together with my cancer diagnosis.
Fight Song
"I've still got a lot of life left in me. ...a lot of fight left in me."
I liked this song when it came out but now it has new meaning in my cancer battle. I've adopted this as my unofficial anthem. I'm not worried about my life in this battle. I have every reason to believe we caught this early enough to make me cancer free well before the end of 2024. However, I'm embracing this as the opportunity to reconsider what I want from this life and how to embrace life differently.
What songs best describe your 2023? What songs are you picking as companions for 2024?
