I am a teacher. I teach physics and mathematics. As a trained educationist i know and have heard about different theories and methods of teaching and learning.
There are experimental method, guided discovery method, problem solving method etc.
All of these methods have advantages and disadvantages. The effectiveness of any of these method depends on the topic and subject too.
As a teacher, you must choose the suitable method to be able to drive down the point to make your teaching effective.
As a science teacher i use more of guided discovery method and experimental method.
Guided discovery involves getting students involved in activities to discover and solve an issue with little guidance from the teacher
The teacher gives a task, guides the students to Figure it out their own way. This way, the students will explore different strategies. It also helps to boost their cognitive and research skills.
The problem solving strategy is also called " figure it out" method.
