Hello, my dear Hivers!

Today I am thrilled to reminisce once again. This time, it happened at my friend Keziah’s place. Interestingly, their family owns two houses, one belongs to her uncle and the other to her aunt. On this visit, we stayed at her aunt’s house.

Are you able to refresh your memory with my last blog where I talked about how I longed for mangoes? So, the time we arrived and dropped off our bags, we didn't waste time and went to the backyard since we were going to pick mangoes!

We initially inquired if our male friends had the skills of climbing trees. Johan then stepped up to volunteer. Turns out Keziah actually has two mango trees.

Keziah also told that they had a long stick which they called "kuhit" and it was very handy for getting the mangoes that were at the top of the tree and for those that were hard to reach. I volunteered to pass the stick to Johan and while I was doing that, I was laughing so much and I couldn't stop myself. Why? It's because an ant bites Johan and he got a little bit of a pinch while climbing. His reaction, combined with my friends' laughte was just too contagious that I couldn't help but laugh along while handing him the stick.

When we were so preoccupied, two cats just appeared among us! They were really cute! The yellow and black one is the mother of my pet Peanut, and the "oreo, colored" kitten is Peanut’s sibling.

Going back to the mangoes that we picked, Johan was up the tree, while I was the one holding the mangoes he passed down. Meanwhile, Keziah and Lesly were there to collect the mangoes and ensure that they did not fall and get bruised. At one point, Keziah joked that I looked like a waitress due to the plate I was holding, it really did look like something a waitress would carry around! I just laughed and went with it.

There was also this slightly painful moment when Johan threw down a mango and Keziah trying to catch it but she didn’t grab it properly and the fruit hit her arm. Her skin bruises easily, and so it got dark very quickly. We all mocked her about it but also, felt a bit of sympathy.

A few moments later, we had collected enough mangoes and it was already time to peel and slice them. I gladly took up the responsibility of peeling as I really love doing it. Also, to make them easier to eat, I cut them into smaller pieces.

My friends who were there started preparing a dipping sauce with the chili. Since I do not like spicy food and sauces, I just told them that I will be having a shrimp paste sauce instead.

Lesly also joined in, helped peel and slice, since there were so many mangoes.

Meanwhile, Johan kept teasing Keziah about her bruised arms, joking that she picked the mango in a crooked way because of the pain. It made all of us laugh again.

After everything was ready, we finally sat down and shared the mangoes together. The sharing of delicious fruit and laughter was like adding a perfect touch to the moment.

By around quarter to 7 in the evening, it was time to head home.

And that’s how our simple yet memorable mango adventure ended. Thank you so much, my dear Hivers, for reading today’s blog. Until next time!
