If you follow me, you might have seen this post where I shared my and my friend @elwnyx's characters, Jeanette and Phonos. On that post, I put one of my favourite paintings of them. Well, you seemed to like them too, so I thought, why not share the progress of the painting?

This painting started off as an idea to push each other to draw everyday. We found a drawing prompt list called "OTP Challenge" and decided to give it a try with Jean and Phonos. The first prompt was "a selfie together", and this was my take on it. Of course, since I'm so bad at those prompts and I've exhausted myself on the first day, I failed the challenge but it ended up causing me to paint this, so I guess, no loss there!

The starting sketch is quite messy, as you can see. At first, I wasn't planning on making this into a fully polished painting, so I kept things simple. Clean up and a bit of a color, I'd be done... Oh boy, wasn't I wrong?

The lazy girl that I am, I didn't even clean up the sketch before throwing in the colors. Just changed the sketch's color to a maroon tone, then threw in the basic color with a Multiply layer on top.

Yet another Multiply for some shadows.

And let the labor of overpainting begin!

It just went on and on and on... What can I say, I got caught up in it!

With an overlay layer and Airbrush, put some shine on the background.

A bit of a Brightness/Contrast action for slight color adjustments change a lot.

Some thing details and just a little bit more enhancement in light. Blurred Jean's arm for the depth, gave more shine to eyes and the background, and I was finished!

What do you think? I'm still not adept on drawing men, also I struggle with drawing more people in the same shot but still, I consider this a good try I'm not really happy with Jean's nose, I couldn't capture it quite well but still, I'm satisfied with the picture.

What do you think I could have done differently to make this better? I'm always open to suggestions!
