Looking Through The Stone

This beautiful arch is sculpted out of some of the reddest rock in this geologic area which is called called the Claron formation and is high in iron oxide. Natural Bridge is stunning at sunrise because these East facing cliffs reflect the light back onto the rocks creating a colorful glow often referred to as backlighting.

This image was shot on film during 2002 at Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah USA. And is being entered in czechglobalhosts@czechglobalhosts 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday week #127.
