My 8 year-old is Learning Calligraphy. NFT?
When Did This Happen?
As I'm spending my time building resources for my family and addressing other little ones, my wife is homeschooling our children. My oldest has learned her math and writing, now she's learning cursive. She like cursive so much, she is begining to teach herself how to write calligraphy.
Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing. It is the design and execution of lettering with a pen, ink brush, or other writing instrument. A contemporary calligraphic practice can be defined as "the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner" Source: Wikipedia
I Think It's Beautiful
We visited a Hobby Lobby and one thing they sell a lot of is posters with fancy writing on it. They're usually humourous, but the font looks like it's handwritten by an expert.
Seeing my daughter's first attempts at calligraphy, I'm amazed at how well it looks. I can't even imagine what it will be like when she's an adult!
A Slightly Obscure Verse
How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you attack as if he were a leaning wall or a tottering stone fence? They only plan to bring him down. Psalms 62:3-4
My daughter enjoys opening her bible to random places and write whatever she finds. It's interesting sometimes what she comes up with. She's particularly fond of the psalms, when she realized they were the words to various songs. She posts them on the walls of her room and she and her sisters make up a tune for them.
It's pretty wonderful to hear them singing in there!
If these Were Made Into NFTs, Would Anyone Be Interested?
I don't want to make NFT's because I think something is special, I want to make NFT's that other people would like to own.
My thought is, perhaps if my daughter's work someday becomes renoun, early images (tokenized) may become valuable. Am I dreaming? Perhaps. Could it happen? Perhaps. Would I want that to happen? Depends. Does anyone care? Probably not.
Either way, I want to put that out there.
