A Friendly Encounter With A Stray Dog

One of the Buddhist temples I sometimes visit houses stray dogs, or the dogs have even taken up residence there themselves. It is a group of maybe 6-8 animals. Normally the group comes to meet you when you have approached the temple up to 100-200 meters. On that day, however, it was only one that wanted to say "hello".

Einer der buddhistischen Tempel die ich manchmal besuche beherbergt herrenlose Hunde bzw. die Hunde haben sich dort sogar selbst einquartiert. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Gruppe aus vielleicht 6-8 Tieren. Normalerweise kommt die Gruppe einem schon entgegen, wenn man sich dem Tempel bis auf 100-200 Meter genährt hat. An dem Tag aber war es nur einer der "Hallo" sagen wollte.

At some point, another dog of the gang had at least looked down from further up the wall.

Irgendwann hatte dann von weiter oben ein anderer Hund der Bande wenigstens von der Mauer aus hinab geschaut.

Sometimes when I'm there, I hand out snacks to the dogs as a bribe. Has so far also always worked quite well. So I can avoid the unnecessary barking, which other visitors have to face.

Manchmal wenn ich dort bin, verteile ich Snacks an die Hunde, zur Bestechung. Hat so weit auch immer ganz gut funktioniert. Damit kann ich dem unnötigen Anbellen entgehen, welches anderen Besuchern blüht.
