Your Votes at Work: OPEP Device
The thing that comes in this box is an OPEP device. OPEP standing for:
Oscilating Positive Expository Pressure.
This specific OPEP device is engineered to loosen mucous and train reduced lungs to expand their capacity. It's a three-figure purchase if one includes the postage and handling, which I do. This means it qualifies for a YVaW.
As for what's in the box...
It seems so simple, and Beloved kept insisting one can gain the same effect by blowing bubbles into a liquid. I insisted in turn that I had done a lot of research and this little darling kept coming up.
It is, more or less, a tube with an internal funnel and a ball bearing. I already took out the 'standard' larger one and replaced it with the smaller one for weaker breathers before I took this pic. It uses your own air pressure to cause vibrations inside the lungs and bronchii via physics I'm not entirely certain about.
What I do know is: (a) It works, (b) I never got the same effect blowing bubbles in beverages through a straw, and, (c) it's the only thing that's shifted my lung clinker for the first time in literal months.
I'll spare you the grousome details, but chronic asthma comes with nastiness that has to be forcibly ejected.
It takes a learning curve to find the correct angle to get the right vibes, but once that's done, it's worth its weight in gold. The booklet says to move the bearing aside to breathe in, but I found it easier to breathe in through my nose or simply break the seal around the mouthpiece.
My nebuliser has been my best friend during Sneezin' and Wheezin' Season but this? This has now joined my fun gang.
This, the cat's dental, and my lappy that died by liquid exposure have put all my other efforts back to zero. C'est la vie. I just have to start over again -_-
