Golos

I've been writing a bunch of scripts lately, mainly because #radiator now has transaction signing. Before, it was useful too, but mainly for reporting and such. I just wanted to also mention that most of my scripts support Golos, including gator (once Golos gets on HF18).

Usually, I post about Golos support over on golos.io, becasue they're the ones who care the most, but I've encountered plenty of STEEM users who are curious about Golos support as well.

Then it occurred to me, not everyone knows what Golos is. And the ones who do know may not realize its importance.

What is Golos?

It's a blockchain just like STEEM. It happens to have a Russian development staff because that's its primary focus. But anyone can post over there, just like STEEM. We English speakers just tag #en when we post.

Why is Golos important?

If you think the technology of STEEM is awesome, then it follows that Golos is just as awesome. Not only that, but the Golos developers have been working independently to find bugs, and those finds have come back to STEEM development. The benefit between the platforms is two-way.

Advantages?

There are some distinct advantages to Golos over STEEM. These advantages have nothing to do with the technology. They have to do with the community. Specifically, the platform was launched in an ICO, which means there are no "mega-whales" from mining. This means that the big stakeholders on Golos bought their stake with their own hard-earned money.

Disadvantages?

Supposedly, there is more plagiarism on Golos, as a matter of percentage. But they're fighting it. I don't think it's a big deal.
