Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 230: Live in the Moment

Live in the Moment.

A poet once said, "When I sit with a married person, he says, 'I miss my single days.'

When I sit with someone who is single, he says, 'I want to get married soon.'

When I sit with an adult, he says, 'I miss my childhood.'

When I sit with a child, he says, 'I want to grow up soon.'

When I sit with someone who is employed, he says, 'I'm tired of working.'

When I sit with someone who is unemployed, he says, 'Please find me a job.'

That's how humans are. We always assume each other's position.

The future we hoped for as a child turned out to be quite frightening and draining on our thoughts and feelings, so that sometimes we wish we could go back to childhood and never experience adulthood at all, right?

I don't know the exact definition of adulthood. What it's like and what it should be like. What I, and perhaps you, feel about what is called adulthood is nothing more than staying up late, sitting alone in the silence of the night, worrying about the cost of living for ourselves and our families, harboring suffering for the sake of prioritizing family matters.

It also demands that most of us work hard, compete with others, sometimes falling over each other just for a seat of power, a position of fame, and money. Like Darwin's theory of Natural Selection, "The strong live, the weak die."

But, no matter what happens, my mother always taught me to have a good heart. Enjoy life in the present. Don't get stuck in the past and don't worry too much about the future.
