Learning to do spinach arepas [ENG-ESP]
Back here with a new recipe. Some of you may have already tried it, but for me it's new. As you know, I'm on a healthy diet and looking for ways to stick to it, within my means.
A while ago, I saw this combination and said to myself, I have to try it. So when I saw that I had the ingredients, I set out to make some delicious spinach arepas.
The ingredients I used were as follows:
- Oat flour
- Spinach
- Salt
Preparation:
The first thing I did was blend my spinach. Once it was thoroughly washed, I used four leaves with a little water, put it in the blender, and this is how it turned out.👇
Next, in a bowl, add approximately one cup of oatmeal, and then add the spinach on top.
Now, with a spoon, I start stirring everything together. As you can see, I then had to use my hands to start kneading, shaping our dough. Given the quantities I used, I ended up with this little bit. To be honest, I didn't have any more spinach to make it go further, but it was enough for two small arepas.
As you can see, my dough is ready, I made my arepas, and I was really surprised by the texture. They are very compact, just like a normal corn arepa.
In one of the recipes I saw, the girl recommended letting it rest for a while so that the dough would harden. I think in her case, it was because she added a lot of spinach, which, as you can see, makes it very liquid. And this flour is different; the more liquid you add, the more watery it becomes, so you have to be careful about that.
Now all that's left is to cook them. In a pan greased with a little oil, place the arepas over low heat and wait for them to brown on one side, then the other. They just need to harden a little to be ready.
So there you have it, our delicious spinach arepas, nutritious and undoubtedly easy to prepare, don't you think? 😍👇
This was my lunch: my delicious arepas with chicken stew and a lettuce and tomato salad. What do you think?
I really liked it, especially with this combination of my arepas. It was the first time I tried them and made them, and I loved them. I hope next time I have more spinach so I can make more, hehehe. 😋
Thank you for reading, I hope you like this recipe, and if you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to give it a go.

SPANISH VERSION
