Learning to use the BSD operating system

My university has old computers that run Windows. We are, of course, not allowed to dual boot Linux on it, so what people have been doing is to install Linux on USB drives and take them to class.

The problem with running Linux from a USB drive is that the performance degrades a lot. BSD is supposed to be faster than Linux. Both systems are very similar in what matters to the end-user, but the core is definitely not the same, so I thought I should give BSD a chance.

I have never met anyone that uses BSD, although I have always flirted with the idea of using it myself. The version of BSD I chose is Nomad BSD, which is designed to specifically run from USB drives!

Luckily BSD supports running Linux software, although, because it is going to run from a USB stick I don't know how well hardware compatibility is going to work, since I will be switching machines every now and then.

Well, if I don't know anyone that uses BSD, at least now my colleagues can say they do know someone that does!
