Cases of infertility are increasing day by day with alarming speed which requires a special attention and counselling of couples.
Infertility is declared where a woman fails to conceive after active planning for about 1 year.
The problem may be with male or female or both.
One should know the exact cause of infertility and treat it accordingly.
Now a days the treatment is easily available for such cases.
Causes
Male infertility
- Abnormal sperm production due to genetic factors, health problems like diabetes, HIV, mumps etc. Which can affect the quality of sperm also.
- Overexposure to some environmental factors like pesticides, drugs, some chemicals, radiation etc.
- Chemotherapy or radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer can affect sperm production.
- Overuse of medications like antibiotics, steroids etc.
- Insufficient exercise
- Stress
Female infertility
- Abnormal ovulation
- Anatomical defect in uterus or fallopian tubes
- Treatment of cancer
- Overweight or underweight
- Delayed puberty
- Autoimmune diseases
- Overeating junk food
- As the age increases, fertility decreases in female.
- Overuse of tobacco or alcohol
- Genetic defects
- Insufficient exercise
- Stress
- Thyroid problem
Prevention
- Avoid use of drugs, tobacco and alcohol
- Men should avoid high temperature
- Avoid exposure to environmental toxins
- Limit medications that affect fertility
- Avoid caffeine
- Maintain weight
- Avoid stress
- Exercise moderately
