War in My Head
There is a war you fight,
All alone;
Late at night,
When no one’s home.
You toss and turn,
Upon your bed;
As the remembered trauma,
Burns through your head.
You sweat and shake,
And beg and plead;
Please take this from me,
This I do not need!
You do your best,
To go back to sleep;
But instead,
All you do is weep.
The battle you wage,
Inside your mind,
Is one you’ve fought,
For such a long time.
I hope you win the war,
That plays in your head;
And find some peace,
And quiet instead.
