The Pace I Can Keep
I used to move fast, even when I didn’t need to. Now my pace is slower, but it feels like I notice more. I see the cracks in the wall. The way the light falls at noon. I listen to my own breathing. That used to annoy me. Now, it comforts.
Sometimes I feel behind. But I remind myself—forward is forward. I may not be chasing big dreams right now, but I’m still moving. Even house cats stretch before they walk.
