Rod Rosenstein Defends Bad Forensic Science.
American courts accept, on a routine basis, quack pseudoscience that has zero basis in reality. Bite mark identification. Blood splatter analysis. Various other forms of claimed “pattern matching.”
These aren’t just botched applications of valid methods. They’re hoaxes to the core, charlatans claiming to do something that is in fact impossible. Yet judges continue to blindly allow people to be sent to prison, and sometimes death row, based on “expert” forensic testimony that is outright fraudulent.
When it comes to what’s accepted as legitimate evidence, our modern judicial system is essentially no better than the Salem witch trials and their use of “spectral evidence” to send people to the gallows.
