I'm creating this post to record answers to common questions about Hive and Hive-Engine. This is meant to be a living document, meaning I will update it over time as more questions are answered.

Q: Is Hive down? I'm trying to do X and I get a weird error.

A: It's unlikely that all of Hive is down. Try switching to a different Hive API node, in the app you're using. For Hive Keychain, change to a different RPC Node in "Advanced Settings".

Q: Is Hive-engine down? I'm trying to do X and I get a weird error.

A: Usually it's an issue with 1 or more API nodes. Try switching to a different Hive-Engine API node.

Q: Where can I change my Hive account keys?

You can change your keys via PeakD. @insert-username/permissions
OR Ecency (@insert-username/permissions)
OR Hive.blog (https://wallet.hive.blog/@insert-username/password)

Q: How do I make a new Hive account?

If you have around 5,000 Hive Power, you can turn on a setting in Hive Keychain to automatically Claim Accounts. Or, you can do this claim operation manually from the PeakD wallet page. Hive Keychain automation is convenient because you don't have to remember to do it.

When you have enough resource credts, you can spend RCs to gain an Account Creation Token. Those tokens can be redeemed to make a free

From the PeakD wallet page you can find the "Create Account with Token" option in the HivePower drop-down menu. PeakD will present a modal dialog to choose a name for the new wallet. Make sure you save the keys!

If you don't have enough Hive Power/RCs to claim account creation tokens, you can pay 3 Hive (price at the time of writing) to create an account without an Account Creation Token. In the PeakD wallet the option is there under the Send menu. See screenshot below.
