, the Agate brewed in Quebec by Herman. This microbrewery knows how to catch my eye with their efficient design and also their smaller can, only 355ml instead of the usual 473ml. Perfect for weekdays 😀.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 407 avec une Schwarzbier aka black lager in German, the Agate brewed in Quebec by Herman. Cette microbrasserie sait attirer mon regard avec leur design et surtout leur cannette plus petite, seulement 355ml au lieu des 473ml habituel. Parfait pour les jours de semaine 😀.

Here's a map of Quebec where I can show you exactly where the brewery is located. The Herman brewery is located in Prévost along the Petit Train du Nord, a 234 km bike path in the Laurentians.

I've already introduced you to a beer brewed by Herman, a Elsass pilsner (see BeerSaturday 371). As a reminder, this craft brewery was launched in 2022 in the Laurentians by four friends Frédéric Pelletier, John Marcel Tremblay, Louis Morin and Louis-Philippe Beaudoin Morin with a focus on thirst-quenching, light and accessible beers.

Je vous avais déjà présenté une bière brassée par Herman, il s'agissait d'une pilsner Elsass (voir BeerSaturday 371). Pour rappel, cette brasserie artisanale a été lancée en 2022 dans les Laurentides par quatre amis Frédéric Pelletier, John Marcel Tremblay, Louis Morin et Louis-Philippe Beaudoin Morin en se concentrant sur les bières de soif, légères et accessibles.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

Agate is a Schwarzbier, a black beer from Germany (literal translation from German). Historically, the roots of this type of beer lie in the German regions of Thuringia and Saxony. The first documented mention of Schwarzbier in Thuringia dates back to 1543, 😮 when the Köstritzer brewery began producing it. To return to this beer Agate, it has been hopped with Hallertrau Mittelfruh.
In the glass, we find a beautiful dark color topped by a light brown collar. On the palate, there's a fine balance of citrus and spice notes with a hint of coffee. A really good beer.

Agate est une Schwarzbier, c'est à une bière noire originaire d'allemangne (traduction littérale de l'allemand). Pour l'histoire, les racines de ce type de bière se trouvent dans les régions allemandes de Thuringe et de Saxe. La première mention documentée de la Schwarzbier en Thuringe date de 1543, 😮 lorsque la brasserie Köstritzer a commencé à la produire. Pour revenir à cette bière, Agate, elle a été houblonnée au Hallertrau Mittelfruh.
Dans le verre on retrouve une belle robe sombre surmontée d'un léger col brun. En bouche, on a un bel équilibre de notes d'agrumes et d'épices avec une petite touche de café. Vraiment très bonne bière.

Design

As always with Herman, the design is fairly simple, with the signature at the top followed by the name of the beer and then its type. Simple and effective. I also like the simplicity of the background, usually one color enhanced by a few lines.

Comme toujours avec Herman, le design est assez simple avec la signature en haut suivi du nom de la bière et enfin son type. Simple et efficace. J'aime aussi la simplicité dans le fond, généralement une couleur unie rehaussée de quelques traits.
