With a coachwork by Reutter (Stuttgarter Carosserie und Radfabrik founded in 1906 by Wilhelm Reutter in Stuggart and now Recaro) and this colors scheme, isn't it the perfect gentleman car ?

History of Porsche 356

In 1956, the Porsche 356 was replaced by the heavily modified 356 A as part of the Technical Program 1 or T1. This model was proposed on the market with five four-cylinder engines :
🚗 356 to 1300 - 44 hp,
🚗 356 A 1300 Super - 60 hp,
🚗 356 1600 - 60 hp,
🚗 356 A 1600 Super - 75 hp,
🚗 356 A 1500 GS Carrera - 100 hp.

Then, unveiled in 1959 during the Frankfurt Auto Show, the Porsche 356 B has another set of upgrades (style & technics) with T5 body type. The design was changed with new bumpers with large vertical guards, the front wings and headlamps was raised.

This model, Porsche 356 Carrera 2 (2000 GS), was presented two years later in 1961 at Frankfurt too in order to replace the 1600 GS. Only 445 examples were produced. The 2000 GT was the faster version with a lighter weight.

Specification

This Porsche 356 B Carrera 2 is equipped with a Fuhrman-designed double-overhead engine aka the “Four-cam” mated with two Solex carburetors. The engine was designed in 1952 by former Porsche engineer Ernst Fuhrmann, if you want know more about the complexity of this enfine, very good article on the Porsche website The fantastic Fuhrmann. It developed 130 hp at 6,200 rpm with a top speed of 193 kmh (120 mph). The car can reach the 100kmh in less than 10 seconds.

This example is finished in a rare color scheme, Slate Gray over a light brown leather interior. Unusual combination for this exterior color, it was normally either red or green. Just beautiful...

In 2020, the car was fully restored by Porsche specialists and finished in its original color (in 2017, the car was painted in bright red). Pure beauty !
