Spartacus (Review)

Spartacus is american television fiction series, inspired by the historical figure of Spartacus, a Thracian Gladiator who led a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic departing from Capua.

The first season "Blood and Sand" was epic mostly because of Andy Whitfiled, who played the role of "Spartacus" and in the second season "Vengeance" they had to change main character. It took a short amount of time to get used to the new Spartacus in season two.

The storytelling is perfectly paced, and it is the mixture of never ending action, brilliantly choreographed fighting and swordplay, brutal violence, politics, ambition, beauty, jealousy, murder, betrayal, and loss. The story starts with capturing and making Spartacus and his wife Sura as slaves. Diverse as ancient Rome and disregard of human beings by the various classes of Roman citizens. Loyalty and competition within a brotherhood of the damned.

Some characters are well-drawn,like Batiatus, Lucretia, Varro, Crixus, Oenomaus, Ashur, Naevia, Glaber, Ilythia, and Agron are totally memorable. If you like to watch fights or war scenes worth watching this series.

Both Andy Whitfield and Liam McIntyre were brilliant as Spartacus.

Spartacus has got 4 seasons:

1. Blood and Sand (12 episodes of 50 minutes each)
2. Gods of the arena (6 episodes of 50 minutes each)
3. Vengeance(10 episodes of 50 minutes each)
4. War of the Damned (10 episodes of 50 minutes each)

Overall it is a great show with brilliant poetic dialogue, but with its graphic violence and gore, it is not for the faint-heated.
