From the Composer’s Desk
It snowed last night as I was working on the ‘clean’ copy. 🎼 Even when I wrote stuff with just lyrics and chords, I’d write it out a few times in pencil where I could scribble sections in/out, erase, tweak, etc, and then do a tidy sheet in pen once I was satisfied with it. Principle is the same, and especially so with traditional notation, because rhythm and timing can’t be swagged. 😛 I am happy with how this waltz has come together, though I want to polish my playing of it before I share it with you all. 🎶
On a side note, even though it snowed, I am still digging fresh carrots from my garden. 🤗 One of my first bosses — who was incidentally an avid gardener — swore by leaving tuberous vegetables in the ground and digging them as needed, instead of digging them all at the end of the season and storing them inside. As I hate wrinkly and mushy carrots, it sounded worth a shot. And it works! These are sweet, full of flavor, and crisp. They were perfect for the ham & potato soup I made this afternoon for dinner.
Until next time! 🎶
