The longest road.

Many people walk through life with hands that never stop working, yet find that financial freedom always stays out of reach. It is a quiet, heavy truth to give your whole lifetime to labor, and still carry the weight of what you owe.

The Long Road

I rose at dawn and work till dusk,
My hands worn thin, my back in trust,
Through every season, year by year,
I gave my strength, my time, my care.

I built, I saved, I paid each due,
Yet something always slipped from view.
No matter how much I could earn,
The weight of debt would always turn.

It feels like running on a wheel,
The finish line I never feel.
The coins come in, then slip away,
Just enough to get through day.

It hurts to think a lifetime spent,
Yet still the bills and debts are bent.
But still I stand, still try my best,
With honest work as my only rest.

Though what I own may not be much,
My conscience stays untouched, uncrushed.
I work with pride, even in debt,
For it’s the only life I’ve met.

Debt may limit what we possess, but it never has to define who we are. There is dignity in every honest day’s work, even when the path feels long and the burden stays heavy. We keep going, not for the wealth we gain, but for the integrity we hold onto.
