First Time Painting a Leather Jacket
Hello Hive!
A couple of days ago I was staring at this leather jacket I have had sitting in my studio for about 3 years. I was a vegan for a really long time and also do a lot of plant based festivals etc over her in Australia so I've felt a bit weird about painting it.... but I realised at the end of the day what I am more conscious of now is WASTE! As I work in the fashion/retail industry this is something I have in my mind DAILY to ensure we build a brand that is super conscious of this....thats why we only use VINTAGE jackets instead of purchasing brand new ones to paint on.
So, like I said this jacket has been hanging in my studio.... and as I was thinking about what I wanted my newest collection to be (A bird Collection) and suddenly the collusion of this image, colour pallet and jacket exploded in my mind all at once!!
After a number of years painting denim, I actually cant believe how the paint just glided along the jacket!!!
I think this might be my new all time fave!!!
The Gold paint I used for the stars actually has 18ct gold in it too... pretty plush and soooo much fun to paint with!
Thanks for reading!
