🌱 Early Morning Work: Preparing My Onion Nursery Bed

Today started early, just as the sun was rising. As a farmer, mornings are the most important part of the day because that’s when the energy is fresh and the weather is still cool for working. I woke up with a clear plan in mind — to prepare and plant my onion nursery bed.
The first step was marking out the exact area where I wanted the nursery to be. I carefully stamped and measured the space to make sure the bed would be well arranged. Proper spacing is very important because it allows the onions to grow well without competing too much for nutrients.
After marking the area, I started loosening the soil. The land needed proper digging so that it becomes soft and suitable for young onion seedlings. As you can see in the process, we used simple tools like hoes to break the soil and remove unwanted roots and debris. Farming may look simple, but it requires effort, patience, and consistency.
We also cleared old tree stumps and roots from the ground. This step is very important because leftover roots can interfere with the growth of the onions. Good soil preparation is the foundation of a successful harvest.
Once the soil was ready, I moved on to shaping the nursery beds. The beds must be slightly raised to allow proper drainage, especially if there is rain. Onions do not do well in waterlogged soil, so this step cannot be ignored.
Finally, I planted the onion seeds carefully in the prepared nursery bed. This stage requires attention because spacing and depth matter. If done well, the seeds will germinate evenly and produce strong seedlings ready for transplanting.
Farming teaches discipline and hard work. Every step, from land preparation to planting, determines the final results. It is not just about planting seeds, but about putting in the effort every single day.
