Caring for My Orchard, Feeding the Trees with Organic Manure, Building Healthier Soil
Hello friends,
Yesterday
I spent part of my day applying organic manure around my citrus trees. This is one of the most important activities in my orchard because healthy soil is the foundation of healthy trees and a good harvest.
As you can see in the photos, I carefully loosened the soil around the base of each tree before adding the manure. This helps improve soil aeration and allows nutrients to penetrate deeper into the root zone. After spreading the manure evenly, I will lightly cover it with soil so that nutrients are protected from direct sunlight and moisture is retained for longer.
Organic manure offers many long-term benefits:
It improves soil structure and water-holding capacity.
It provides a slow and steady release of nutrients.
It encourages beneficial microorganisms that keep the soil alive.
It promotes stronger root development and healthier tree growth.
It reduces the need for excessive chemical fertilizers over time.
This orchard has been producing well, but I believe consistent care is what keeps fruit trees productive year after year. Fertilizing at the right time is an investment in the next harvest, not just today's appearance.
Farming teaches patience because the work we do today often rewards us months later. Every shovel of manure added to the orchard is another step toward healthier trees, better fruit quality, and improved yields.
I enjoy sharing these simple farming activities because they remind us that successful agriculture depends on regular maintenance, healthy soil, and dedication.
