Downdetector solution to Real-time outage monitoring for your favorite services...

Hey All,

Today I stumbled upon a very good website by the name downdetector & surprising it does what it name suggest. I though it would be interesting to share my experience with this website service and rest assured its a free service and I just used it today only to find out if there was any glitches with the ICICI Bank internet banking portal.

Well, I had some bank related work i.e. had to transfer money do a NEFT to one of my friend and when I was trying to login to the bank website it was giving me a time out error; here is the message that I got every time - "infinity.icicibank.com took too long to respond." and in normally circumstance one is easily able to login with the right credentials.

I tried a couple of times and yes with a gap of 1 or 2 hours and the result was the same. So out of curiosity I started to search if the ICICI bank server is down and that is where I came across downdetector and while browsing through the website I saw this graph as well which is indicating a lot of users are facing a similar problem::

Number maybe less not sure how they are tracking it but the point is that there is an issue and other customers are also talking about the same. This above chart show cases a view of problem reports submitted in the past 24 hours compared to the typical volume of reports by time of day. And check this one out which talks about the most reported problems and the live outage and reported problem maps.

I am not getting the error for other banking website and its more specific to ICICI and downdetector pretty much covers it. And well you will be surprise to know that it not only covers banking application but it covers other major websites like amazon, youtube, instagram, flipkart, watapp and the list just goes one. I would say its a best website that I have come across that tells us about the Real-time problem & outage monitoring. Simply put they tell us when our favorite services are down or having problems. Well this should be it for todays' post and next time you face a problem with any of your favorite website and you need to check what's going on then just visit downdetector and explore...cheers
