Today was quite an unusual day in my daily routine. The day dawned with heavy rain that let up around nine in the morning. I got up early to go to work, and when I stepped outside, I saw how hard it was raining and decided to wait for the rain to pass before heading to the job site. After all, work stops when it rains because the work is done outdoors.

My daily job is to supervise the staff working on a construction site where 22 townhouses are being built near my home in Cabudare, Lara State.
Once the rain had let up a bit, I looked out the window and saw a beautiful formation of clouds in the sky signaling the end of the rain and the start of a lovely day.

I left when raindrops were still falling, on very wet pavement. It only takes me 8 minutes to get to work, but because of the rain, there was a lot of water on the road and I had to drive slowly.

When I arrived at the construction site, the workers were just starting to work because it had only just stopped raining. The mason was laying the blocks for the perimeter fence and pouring the bracing beam.

The electrician was running the wiring along the walls of the houses to be covered up later. I also have two people installing the door frames for the houses.

Everyone was working, but at a slower pace because the rain had left a lot of mud, which was slowing down the wheelbarrows and the pouring of concrete. Everyone knows what to do, but they always need to be supervised because they tend to take longer than usual or improvise when they’re on their own.

In construction, rain always causes delays in work and, consequently, in productivity; however, we know that rain is necessary for life to thrive.

When I took out my phone to order materials, I realized I had no credit or signal, so I went to a tree-lined area adjacent to the next phase of the houses to find Wi-Fi, which a neighbor very kindly provided for our communications, since it’s difficult to get a good signal in the area.

While I was there, I looked up and saw a guacharaca perched on a tree branch, and I took a picture of it before it flew away. I also found a good-sized snail that, thanks to the humidity, was out in the open.
I also take these small details into account because they remind me that in life we are not alone, but accompanied by all kinds of animal life that are part of creation and bring joy to our existence.

At the end of the afternoon, the staff leaves, I check that everything is in order, and I leave the security guard in charge so I can go home.

On my way home, I stopped at the auto parts store to ask about a power steering pump and a belt tensioner that my daughter needs for her car, and when they told me the price, I was surprised at how expensive it is to keep a vehicle running.

It’s a daily and necessary routine that we must never let overwhelm us or change our mood. God always surprises us and teaches us how to deal with it.

Un día de lluvia que afecta la productividad

Saludos amigos de esta comunidad @daylyblog, que nos permite publicar un pedacito de nuestro vida cada día.

Hoy fue un día bastante atípico en mi rutina diaria. Amaneció el día con una lluvia fuerte que aminoró ya casi a las nueve de la mañana. Me levanté temprano para ir al trabajo y cuando salí afuera vi lo fuerte que estaba lloviendo y decidí esperar a que pasara la lluvia para poder arrancar para la obra. Después de todo, la obra se detiene cuando llueve porque se ejecutan trabajos al aire libre.

Mi trabajo diario es supervisar al personal que labora en una obra, donde se están construyendo 22 viviendas tipo town house en un lugar cercano a mi casa en Cabudare, estado Lara.
Al pasar un poco la lluvia, me asomé por la ventana y observé una hermosa formación de nubes en el cielo que anunciaban el fin de la lluvia y el comienzo de un bonito día.

Salí cuando todavía caían gotas de agua, sobre un pavimento muy mojado. Solo me tardo 8 minutos en llegar a mi trabajo, pero por la lluvia, había mucha agua en la vía y tuve que ir despacio.

Al llegar a la obra apenas estaba comenzando a trabajar el personal, porque recién había dejado de llover. El albañil estaba pegando los bloques de la cerca perimetral y vaciando la viga de riostra.

El electricista estaba colocando las instalaciones por las paredes de las casas para luego taparlas. También tengo dos personas colocando los marcos para las puertas de las casas.
Todos estaban ejerciendo sus labores pero a menor ritmo porque la lluvia había dejado mucho barro que retrasaba el paso de las carretillas y el vaciado del concreto. Todos saben qué hacer, pero siempre hay que supervisarlos porque tienden a tardar mas tiempo que lo normal o a inventar cuando se ven solos.

En la construcción, la lluvia siempre ocasiona retrasos en los trabajos y por ende, de la productividad, sin embargo sabemos que la lluvia es necesaria para el desarrollo de la vida.

Cuando saqué mi teléfono para pedir material, me percaté que no tenia saldo ni señal, así que me dirigí a una parte que está llena de árboles que colinda con la otra etapa de las casas para buscar un wifi, que una vecina muy amablemente nos facilitó para las comunicaciones, ya que en la zona es difícil conseguir buena señal.

Estando allí miré hacia arriba y observé una guacharaca que estaba posada en la rama de los árboles y antes que volara le tomé una fotografía. De igual manera, conseguí un caracol de buen tamaño que gracias a la humedad, estaba en lugar visible.
Estos pequeños detalles también los tomo en cuenta porque me recuerda que en la vida no estamos solos, sino acompañados de todo tipo de vida animal que forman parte de la creación y que nos alegran la existencia.

Al final de la tarde el personal se retira, yo chequeo que todo haya quedado como debe ser y dejo al vigilante, para irme a casa.

De camino a mi casa me detuve en la venta de repuestos a preguntar por una bomba de dirección y un tensor de correa que mi hija necesita para su carro y cuando me dijeron el precio quedé sorprendido de lo costoso que sale mantener un vehículo operativo.

Es una rutina diaria y necesaria, que nunca debemos dejar que nos arrope y nos haga cambiar nuestro estado de ánimo. Dios siempre nos sorprende y nos enseña a lidiar con ella.
