In April 1994, the Super Eagles of Nigeria moved to the position of the 5th best team in the world, the highest position ever by an African team, according to the fifa world ranking. Two years after, they would go on to win the Olympic Gold medal in Atlanta.
They have also made it to six of the last seven World Cup competitions since 1994, making it to the round of 16s on three occasions.
Back home, Nigeria has made it to 18 AFCON competitions, winning 3 times.
While the promises, glamour, and dominance of the yesteryears may have waned or even completely faded, in football, we get to say, "Form is temporary but class is permanent.".
Egypt presents a perfect opportunity to launch a comeback, will the Super Eagles turn up in Egypt?
