Belgrade is getting green. And I am getting drunk :)

Checking into the hostel Fair & Square turned out to be the best coincidence ever. Normally I am at home at a different place, which was fully booked this time, but heck, I wasn't really sad about it. Let me explain why..

Hostel being located a little further from the center, I was trying to get a tram, but than the inability to buy a ticket and it's speed made me get out and walk. My backpack wasn't heavy as it was just a weekend getaway for me. It is spring in full swing and walk through the city is actually great thing to do.

At the reception I am welcomed by somewhat hyperactive Italian named Matteo. We instantly click together and I crack open my first beer around lunchtime with him. I let my batteries charge, check few things online and than I am off to the center with my fellow beer drinker from Milan.

Sadly I don't have pictures from that night as we were drinking with Russian refugees and generally had a lot of fun. Party tourism one on one...

It was also my thirtieth birthday, so it had to be done hard. We escorted ourselves back home around three am, full of excitement and satisfaction.

Next day I was exploring the springtime in the Serbian capital again.

To me Belgrade is a city full of contrasts. Some buildings are truly communist style built and others are more traditional, almost Ottoman style. Depends on the location of course.

There are also plenty of bankrupt stores and restaurants, that give to the place somewhat depressing atmosphere. But in spring it is well balanced with the green trees all around.

The next night goes again as expected, well into the morning hours and leaves me actually sleepless... House techno of some sort and young group of people is of course the reason. Was it worth it? Well, that is questionable, maybe the dj's are not being that creative anymore. Nevertheless awesome times and a jubileu well celebrated.
