Monomad:an exhausting journey

Hello to all my black and white friends

In the past few days, I came across one species of handsome four-spotted fungus beetle (Eumorphus quadriguttatus) again. I don't know why its name is as unique as I thought. It seemed to be trapped on a large fallen log, and it was so eager to climb up, even though it has both wings in good condition. Strangely, it deliberately chose not to open its wings to fly, just to get to the top faster.

Honestly, I really enjoyed watching its struggle to climb higher, gradually exerting effort little by little. Its struggle was not in vain; eventually, its hard work paid off. Sometimes we think logically that even insects don’t want shortcuts, let alone humans who have so much intellect and thought. Maybe if I were it, I would have spread my wings and flown straight to the top. But this beetle seems to want to enjoy the journey.
