“Paganus,” in classical Latin "villager, rustic; civilian,
non-combatant" noun use of adjective meaning "of the country, of a
village," from pagus "country people; province, rural district,"
originally "district limited by markers," thus related to pangere "to
fix, fasten," from PIE root *pag- "to fix" (see pact). As an adjective
from early 15c.

Paganus is an open-sourced, self-actualized, modern, intentional community. Designed around the concepts of an open society and centered on the liberation of the individual, their energy needs, their food supply, and most importantly, protection of their common wealth. The governing philosophy of Paganus is to live freely and openly in a healthy environment of similar mined individuals and families, so as to foster the concepts of liberty, equality and community.

Paganus will use a new open-source toolkit for building intentional communities called Community Actualization. The concept of Community Actualization is to provide a wide open framework for constructing many of the necessary utilities of a community while participating in a larger intentional community environment. Intentional Communities who develop themselves using components found in the Community Actualization open-source toolkit, will be participating in a much larger open source experiment, where their successes and failures are shared and collaboratively adjusted to provide for further growth and success.

Community Actualization serves as a way to decentralize many of the necessary components of a community into more networkable and cooperative systems of management. Paganus will be building it's community on the open platform of Community Actualization, but will be managed by the concepts of LEAF Worldwide; whereby the community seeks to liberate their dependence on Energy, Food and Money. To accomplish this task, Paganus will be established as a farming community that also produces clean and renewable energy, while decoupling the entire community from the financial threats outside by using open-sourced, and sovereign currencies as a means of exchange. This LEAF methodology will be a “Living laboratory” of research that will be shared and collaboratively developed with other Community Actualization projects around the world.

The collaboration will be facilitated utilizing a radical new form of de-centralized social networking that allows for secure, encrypted, mesh networkable nodes that provides all the pertinent storage and processing needed for communicating and exchange of ideas. This de-centralized social network, called Ad-Hocracy, will also be open-sourced and freely available to users outside of the network of Actualized Communities. This platform will allow a new form of internet media and internet collaboration for both members of communities and an audience of interested spectators who wish to participate at many levels.
