Pictures and music
I live in a very small village but we do have our own band! Not professionals but pretty good and we enjoy listening to them in numerous occasions each year during large or smaller festivities. They have become quite known in the area so sometimes they are invited to other villages too!
On April 12, 2020 they organized a small concert on the village's roofs. You know, like the ones they did in the cities during the lock-down, from the balconies! Of course in the village we could move around freely but they kept the "lock-down concept" for this event :)
Unfortunately not all of them made it but we did enjoyed the sounds of 4 instruments!
The whole thing took place a few meters away from my home so I could have watched it from my porch but I didn't miss the opportunity to move closer and take some pictures!
I was filming a few small videos too and there was one more camera on a balcony so their is a video clip from the day! I am using the moving camera (sorry for the shaking, it was my first attempt as a videographer) and the guy with the double bass did the editing.
On may 3, 2020 was the first day of loosening the lockdown restrictions in Greece and in order to celebrate it, the whole band gathered at the same spot to perform an outdoors execution of "Daddy lolo".
As at the previous time I took a few pictures during the preparations and then I switched into filming video. And this time we even had a script to follow :)
The "production" is strictly amateur but it was so much fun and I think that the result is really enjoyable!
Let me remind you that our village , on the northeast side of the island of Crete, in Greece, has a population of 140 people and having a band with 8 members is a big deal around here!
The rehearsal lasted a couple of hours so I had the time to take a few shots of everybody. The setting was inspiring and no one ever complained for a few extra pictures!
If you watch the video you'll see a lady walking down the stairs, passing through the band. I have to tell you that this wasn't planed, she just heard the music and come to say hello! The editing was made by the guy with the double bass with a free editing program so please be gentle with your critique :)
On may 31, 2020 we made a third one and it was one hell of a laugh!
As the previous times I was one of the three cameramen, using my canon 6D mark II, the editing was made by the guy with the double bass and all the production was in a homemade, volunteer-based style! Unfortunately I didn't had enough time to shot video and photographs at the same time so I chose a few captures from my video files. It's not the best possible quality but if you are reading this on a phone it should look OK.
This time it is a Greek song, originally written more than 80 years ago but the group sang it in a very fresh and cheerful way! Of course they are singing in Greek but I think that it is an enjoyable video even without understanding the lyrics.
The direction of the clip reminded me some old black and white Greek movies so I edited the pictures accordingly. Sorry guys for that, I know that you tried to be as colorful as possible :)
