With 1 month of rewards, the Hive community rewarded me with a total of 3.4 $HBD for processing videos on the Hive account@threespeak

decentralised network, plus the HP half part I am not counting here... 😎

1 HBD = 1 USD
1 USD = 1.73 NZD

This means I got an equivalent of 5.882 NZD for processing videos on a decentralised network without any questions asked! No middle man, no KYC, pure freedom of support to a network for people to share content.

Now, let's consider the total energy cost. I pay around 0.25 NZD per kWh (excluding taxes), which means that this pays for 23.528 kWh of power.

If I say that when the machine is encoding, I am spending around 150W (Zen2 CPU kind of thing), then 6 minutes is an average of 2.5Wh of energy per video.

Then this means the total amount of 23.528 kWh budget divided by 2.5 Wh video, gives me a chance to be able to produce around 9411 videos per month.

If you consider that last month only 1714 were encoded... then this proves this is, in general, a massively efficient technology! FOR FREE! Users PAY NOTHING!

If it were me all alone... I would get 5.4 times in rewards the cost of encoding videos.

And yes, this does not count with a lot of stuff like running the PC, cost of the PC, internet, etc... but I am assuming people doing this already have their PCs running anyhow, so this is just the cost of processing!

Now imagine if the BILLIONS YouTube gets as just payment for Premium were instead spread through users doing what I am doing? 🤯🤑
